I first bought The Ancient Legacy and began reading it, when I started I found it dull.. I threw it in the corner and didnt touch it until just now [2 days ago], I had to bring it to school during the WASL testing after I finished and when I began reading it I kept on going. By page 40 I was hooked, this book didnt catch me the first time but now I love it! I am only unhappy that I bought the final novel before the first and second! Still I am gonna go get one and two as soon as I finish this one, and then I am going to await your next book. Your definitely an author I am keeping bookmarked with, wonderful job with creating Mathew Lewin as a character, fantastic.

I really enjoyed the trilogy. I loved the characters, but some seemed more fleshed out than others. Couldn't Lara do something other than flick Mathew's hair out of his face? Gaul was great as was Father Thomas. I also enjoyed Teana's character immensely, especially seeing how she growed from the second to the third book.

Anyway, thanks for entertaining me.

Sincerely,

I have read all three of the fifth rings books with intese concentration. I was captivated by the storyline and the characters. SO much so that I would lose track of time and wind up finishing the book all too soon. I sad to see the series end, but glad as well to know that it ended as it did.

WOW! thats all that can be said after reading this last book. i was a little disappointed when i got to the end, but it wasn't because i didnt liek the ending. i just was disappointed i wouldn't be able to read any more of the books! all in all it was an amazing trilogy to with amazing twist on fantasy that i have never read before. they way everything slowly came together from all the books, and the final outcome of all the characters was simply amazing. i couldn't have asked for a better trilogy... only more books :)

This was one of the best series I've had the pleasure of reading. I love Tolkien, Goodkind, Jordan, Donaldson and would put you up there with any of these fine authors. The world you created was truly wonderful, and the characters felt like friends to me by the time I put The Ancient Legacy down. If someone doesn't go after this story for a movie they're missing a good bet.

PLEASE write another book SOON.

Mat Lewins responces to things about him are constantly driving me up the wall. He should feel responsible. If he had acted with more forethought any number of times the problems he had later would never have happened. I liked him best aboard ship. But the moment he gets the ring back its as though he can no longer think rationally. The things I liked best about this book is the character building. But I wish Akin had the ring and the power not Lewin. I also like books that follow the hero from start to finish and I think this series does a better job of doing this then most. Some authors spend so much time developing the plot through additional characters theres no one to identify with. Not this one. But even as I identified with Lewin I couldn't help but hate him for being a ....head.

Great stuff.  I am a 40 year old man who does not normally read fantasy.  My daughter bought me the Emerald Cavern as a birthday present so I had to read it.  I couldn't put it or the 5th Ring (which I had to run out and buy) down.  I do wish you didn't make Teanna so obviously evil at the end.  I liked the potential tension/competition she could have provided.  Hurry up on the third book!!!!!

I truly loved the book the Fifth Ring. I must ask if there is any part of the book taken from "The Time Machine". Dear Mitchell Graham,

I loved your first book The Fifth Ring and also enjoyed The Emerald Cavern, just as much. It has been a pleasure reading them and i cannot wait for the 3rd book to the trilogy and also many other books you may write in the future...

The only minor thing that i thought could have been better was the cover for The Emerald Cavern...I thought The Fifth Ring had an AWESOME cover..but then the second one had a picture, although good...not like the first one which was exellent. That is the only complaint..the cover.Inside from the beginning page to ending page was great! Keep them comin...

Mitchell, I'm reading The Fifth Ring now, and am impressed. I'm always looking for a new, good author, and thank you for making me look forward to reading more. I was curious why you put in that fencing scenario, but after reading your profile on this site, understand. Not that it was a bad idea, I just have never seen that sport in a fantasy novel before. Hi there! Just wanted to say that I absolutly loved both The Fifth Ring and The Emerald Cavern! After reading the first book I eagerly awaited the next one, and what a sequel! What can I say? It had it all: action, adventure, great characters, mixed with a perfect blend of fantasy/sci-fi that leaves you breathless wanting more. *sigh* The only problem now is having to be patient and wait for the third installment, which by the ending of the second one certainly holds great promise. I've read your book twice now (just finished it again this morning), and it such a satisfying fantasy book! Everything just came together, and I *loved* the bits of humor (I prefer fantasy with some humor to them, as I have also enjoyed 2 of the series by David Eddings). I read through the first time in about 2 weeks, and this time around it only took me a week. What a find - I decided on this book with only the reviews on Amazon to go on. BTW, I can't wait for Book #2, and I've heard both December and January as due dates. And if what I've also read is true about your signing with Spielberg, I hope he treats your story as well as Peter Jackson has with The Lord of the Rings. Continued success!

Enjoyed your book, looking forward to the next. I feel the map needs help though. In section where Duren and Ra'id al Mouli were playing "kesherit" in Duren's palace (Chapter 13) the description of Bajan depicts Sibuyan to the north and Nyngary to the south. Also the text refers to "Anderon" while the map shows "Anderton".

Well, you told me to write back once I had finished the book. Which I did. ..and I spent long hours contemplating exactly what to say to express my opinion. All I could come up with is "HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL JANUARY FOR THE SEQUEL!" that's just cruel marketing. I loved it. Great book. Incredible characters. I am dying to see how the darker side of the ring changes Matthew, or if it does for that matter. So glad I picked this book up blindly. A great new discovery for my collection. What I liked most were the mature approaches to many topics that the majority of author's leave out of their stories. Fantasy novels do NOT have to be children's books. Great writing!

Dear Dr. Graham, I am a neuropsychologist. I recently read you book entitled “The Fifth Ring.” I have been a reader of fantasy/sci fi novels since pre-adolescence, and I am in the process of writing my own series. Consequently, I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of the genre. As such, I am writing to let you know that I thought your book was very impressive. It was creative, novel, and captivating. I did not notice one instance of the book having any loose ends, inappropriate incongruity (e.g., one character suddenly becoming much more able than his or history would indicate possible), or difficulty ascribing a character with a pronoun. The psychological processes of the characters was realistic and thought provoking. I read it in a couple of days. It is inspiring to see someone in my profession achieve in writing such an accomplished first novel. Anyway, good job and I look forward to your next one. By the way, I apologize if this unsolicited email. Robert Adams, Ph.D. Clinical Neuropsychologist

Hi Mitchell, I really enjoyed your book. I especially liked the fact that the people, although they were at the tech level of the Middle Ages, didn't act like people at such a state. They were intelligent, open-minded, and curious about the world. That is so very refreshing. I also liked the "feel" of the world; it just seemed like a place that I'd love to visit. I was curious about the trailer. Who is the person wearing the ring when he faced with a large band of soldiers riding toward him? Is that supposed to be Matthew? When does the sequel come out?

I really enjoyed your book. Its really a different kind of fantasy than most other books I've read. (I'm sure a lot of people have said this before.) The book really brought me into a totally different aspect of fantasy which is rarely the theme in most fantasy novels. The fact that the book took place 3,000 years after our time really creates a crazy feel when reading it. Technically the book should be considered a Science Fiction novel, but the fact that you created the setting in a more feudal time really makes it fun and interesting to read. i can't wait for the next book in the series. I was hoping you were going to write another book following this story after reading you biography on the back. The book was really amazing and brought a whole different aspect to the fantasy genre. I finally managed to wrest Fifth Ring away from my husband and, I have to say, he was right about your writing. I'm only about halfway through the book and I am loving every second of it. I liked the characters to begin with, but I'm growing to like them more and more the further I get into the plot. You've got a great story here. Keep up the fantastic work!

THE FIFTH RING, an epic fantasy novel, is a great pick. You will learn of the mysterious and magnificantly horrific stories of young boy named Matt. If you've just picked this book up and bought it, read it right away.

This is an amazing book! While it may not be as literate as Tolkien or as detailed as Salvatore, this book is still powerful. It has much more room to blossom!

Hi, Mitchell--tried to ask this question through your contact form but as yet have no reply, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm an aspiring fantasy writer who would like to build my writing credits by entering contests. I've tried to find information on the Delmont-Ross contest online, but so far I've had no luck. Could you please write me and let me know how to enter this wonderful contest that you yourself won? Thank you so much. P.S. I bought a copy of your book and I'm really enjoying it. Karas Duren is a great villain, and your action scenes rock!

Hey. I think that Mr. Graham has a fair chance at having his book become either a bestseller or win on of the big awards.

Karas Duren is the most compelling villain since Darth Vader. He drew me right into the story. The characters are very well developed and interesting. The book was fun to read.
